EDUCATION
Calhoun County is home to some of the finest educational institutions in the State of Alabama. Five public school systems and a number of outstanding private and parochial schools, which provide a full range of primary and secondary education, are located in Calhoun County. Post-secondary and/or continuing education is offered at Gadsden State Community College (Ayers Campus), and Jacksonville State University, both located in Calhoun County.

Regional Medical Center
Regional Medical Center, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, is a not-for-profit full-service medical center serving over 250,000 citizens in the region.
RMC has a 336-licensed bed capacity and over 185 physicians representing most major specialties. The medical center has over 1,400 full and part-time employees, making it one of Calhoun County’s largest employers. Medical services include an emergency department, cardiology services, surgical services imaging services, maternal and childcare, mammography services, neurological services, laboratory services, cancer program, gastroenterology services, psychiatric services, wound healing center, brace and Pedorthic equipment, occupational health, rehabilitative services, and long-term care hospital. With the recently acquired da Vinci robotics surgical system, physicians are able to offer a minimally invasive option for complex surgical procedures.
